Nuan Xin Rice Roll
About This Spot
Stepping into Nuan Xin Rice Roll feels like a quiet pause amid the lively hum of New York's Eldridge Street. This unpretentious spot carries the easy rhythm of a casual local eatery where comfort and familiarity blend seamlessly. The subtle warmth inside invites you to slow down — whether you're seeking a quick bite or a moment to savor a quietly satisfying meal.
The atmosphere here flows gently, marked by a simple, approachable charm that suits the bustling neighborhood outside. It’s the kind of place where the day moves at your pace: relaxed yet still tinged with the energy of bustling city life. Seating is modest but welcoming, making it just as fitting for a solo pause as for sharing a casual meal with friends. Across the street, a nearby playground and benches add to this understated sense of community and ease, softening the city’s edges.
The heart of the experience revolves around familiar yet thoughtfully crafted flavors that echo the Taiwanese street food tradition but feel right at home in the city. The rice rolls, often wrapped in tender, warming layers of purple rice, offer a gentle sweetness and nuanced textures that are unexpectedly satisfying. Whether it’s the playful contrast of savory fillings like chicken or Taiwan sausage or the delicate balance of a red bean dessert, everything feels thoughtfully made to comfort and intrigue.
Complementing the food, the drinks invite you to linger a bit longer. From velvety matcha lattes to light, refreshing fruit teas crowned with a salted cheese foam, each sip feels like a quiet discovery. Milky teas with their soft sweetness and subtle layers become a companion to the meal, not just a beverage but part of a gentle, shared moment.
Here, there’s no rush — just the simple pleasure of a well-crafted snack or a light meal that doesn’t rush you but nourishes in its own unassuming way. It’s a reminder that food is not just about flavor, but about the pause, the company, and the warmth that can be found even in the smallest corners of the city.

This is a great place for a snack or a light meal. I never tried a rice roll with purple rice before so I was curious how it taste. I got the braised pork with pickled vegetable and it was surprisingly exceeded my expectations! It was served warm so it's nice to eat outside in the cold. FYI, there is a playground across the street with benches. The rice was cooked perfectly which provides a nice texture. The pork wasn't fatty and they give a nice amount of pickled vegetables. I was surprised that they added mayo and it goes so well with the roll. The cost is under $5. I'm so glad this place exist!

We stopped by for lunch around 1pm on a Saturday. We ordered the special Fantuan (rice roll), jasmine milk tea with no sugar, and some Taiwan sausage. There was no wait, we got our food in about 5 minutes and were able to sit at the restaurant to enjoy boba with our Fan Tuan. The purple rice was cooked perfectly and the food was delicious, healthy, and filling. Highly recommend for lunch or quick snack!

It’s yummy! It’s just not very stuffed with filling. Is very much mostly rice. But it’s yummy. It was ready super fast, like 3 minutes.

I got the crawfish rice roll with Sichuan sauce. After tax, it was $6.80. Inside the rice roll, there’s crawfish, pork floss, and lettuce. Spice level is just right for me. They sell rice ball, pudding, and milk tea. I also really like their purple rice over milk tea. It takes a while for them to make the rice roll. Really cute inside with the lights on the wall and seat. Very cozy inside and good music.
